about

Long story short, I read pōtiki by Patricia Grace and there was so many deep indigenous ideas in there- I had to sit with some and write them down. This song is about the lasting impressions of that wonderful work. Highly recommend reading it.

lyrics

Death is a coiled spring
So that the new sill come
from where the old has been

Death is a seed
So that the new will rise
from where the old has been

the natural way of things

Ko te mate, he puananī
